Richmond Area Bot Instigated Destruction (RABID) is teaming up with ImmerseCon 2026 for an explosive weekend of robot combat at one of Virginia’s biggest STEM + gaming conventions!

🆕 Our Brand-New Arena!

All fights will take place in our brand-new 8x8 ft double-layered polycarbonate arena! Built for maximum action and visibility, this arena delivers safer walls, louder impacts, and an incredible spectator experience. Whether you're competing or watching, the action is going to be intense!

Event Schedule

Saturday, July 11 (11:00 AM – 7:00 PM) 1 lb Plastic Ants + 1 lb Full Combat Antweights

Sunday, July 12 (11:00 AM – 6:00 PM) 3 lb Beetleweights + open grudge matches! Bring any 3 lb and under bots to battle between tournament fights.

Entry & Tickets

Team Registration Fee: $20 (includes 1 convention pass)

Bot Registration Fees:

• $20 per bot (1 lb Plastic Ants or Full Combat Antweights)

• $30 per bot (3 lb Beetleweights)

Additional Pit Passes: $20 each (up to 3 per team)

All passes are full 2-day convention passes to ImmerseCon, giving access to gaming, cosplay, esports, STEM activities & more.

• 1 lb Plastic Antweights

• 1 lb Full Combat Antweights

• 3 lb Beetleweights

Rules & Format

• Modified SPARC 1.6 ruleset (DOWNLOAD HERE)

• Approved printed materials for Plastic Ants: ABS, ASA, PCTG, PET, PETG, PLA, PLA+, TPU, TPE

• Emphasis on 3D-printed bots — non-printed parts must not be primary structural elements or easily exposed

• No active weapons that produce heat, fire, smoke, or entanglement

• Generous locomotion weight bonuses for shufflers, non-traditional, and true walkers

• Battery safety strictly enforced (exposed batteries = instant loss)

• Minimum 20 minutes between fights for repairs

Format: Double-elimination tournament

Match Length: 2:30 minutes

Judging: 3-judge panel (Damage 5 / Aggression 5 / Control 5)

Prizes: TBA – big trophies and sponsor swag coming soon!
